A sizeable town lying on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy river, close to Pyay(Pyi) are the ruins of the ancient Pyu capital of Thayekhittaya (Sri Ksetra), which dates back to the 5th century. Only three stupas remain intact, and the Pyu architecture is very much different from that of the Bagan era.….
