MAI A 319After a short period of suspension MAI flights to Bangkok and K.L resumed on January 15, 2008. The flights between these cities will be in collaboration with Druk Airlines of Bhutan but Yangon-Bangkok-Yangon and Yangon-K.L-Yangon sectors will be operated under MAI arrangements. Thai Airways Adjust Fuel Surcharges On International Flights

thai airway logo Thai Airways (TG) announced that it will adjust fuel surcharges on its international routes effective January 1, 2008 , as announced by Mr. Pandit Chanapai, Executive Vice President for Commercial. All customers are advised to contact their travel agencies for details.

Singapore Chiangi Airport Opens Third International Terminal

Changi Airport T3 Mr. Yap Kim Wah, Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President, Products and Services said passengers using the new terminal 3 at Chiangi Airport will be greeted with new services and luxurious lounges to the tune of USD 30 million.

According to Mr Yap the SilverKris Lounge provides an oasis of calm and respite for PPS Club members and Singapore Airlines customers travelling in the premium cabins, while the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge offers KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members a cosy getaway in which to rest and relax. Both lounges are centrally located and offer the best views of the airport, from the parking bays to the runways.

Singapore Airlines Gets Second Airbus A 380

A380Singapore Airlines has taken delivery of the second Airbus A 380 and it is expected to arrive in Singapore on January 12, 2008. Like the first A380 delivered in October 2007, this aircraft is fitted with the new generation Singapore Airlines cabin products, seating 471 in a 3 class layout. The configuration includes the luxurious Singapore Airlines Suites, the award-winning 4-abreast Business Class and a new, more comfortable Economy cabin. The new aircraft will be used also on Singapore-Sydney route. Singapore-London flights will be inaugurated when the third Airbus A 380 is delivered in late February 2008.

Qartar AirwaysMrs Varkey Thomas, an expatriate Indian lady residing in Doha was the lucky winner of the USD One Million cash prize awarded by Qatar Airways. She was traveling by Qatar Airways back to her home town of Cochin when the pleasant surprise was announced. This is the second time this award has been presented to the Qatar Airways passengers.

Two Qatar Airways passengers get Brand new

BMW 650iA BMW 650i convertible will be taken home by Mohammed Issa Al Omari, a Jordanian national living in Qatar. A Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 was won by Canadian Iyad Mohamad Saad, also living in Qatar. Both these awards as well as the cash reward was inaugurated by Qatar Duty Free, a subsidiary of Qatar Airways.

Samui Airport Is Now Going International

The new terminals of Samui Airport commenced service for all international flights, following the earlier phase on May 27th when domestic flights were all shifted to the new facility. The completion of all terminals makes the airport’s passengers area now four times bigger than the old terminals. The airport is now able to accommodate up to 16,000 passengers a day. The official opening of the new-look airport will be in January next year.
