Deputy Minister of Myanmar Hotel and Tourism held a meeting regarding to Visa On Arrival procedures in Myanmar on 26thof September 2005. The meeting was focused on the new procedures for application of visa on arrival and the Deputy Minister explained the terms and conditions of application for such visas.
According to him there is no visa on arrival per se but only visa by pre-arrangements. These visas will be available for international visitors wishing to visit the country but with no Myanmar Embassy accredited in their country of residence or it is situated far from their residence like a person living in LA it would be impossible to travel to Washington to apply for a Myanmar visa at the Myanmar Embassy there.
Persons wishing to avail themselves of this visa facility would need to contact a Myanmar travel agency and also take out a package tour programme with them. Then he should furnish the Myanmar travel agency handling his tour with 4 passport size photos, complete personal information including his/her father's name, occupation and present residential address. The photos can be sent either by e-mail or through the post to the Myanmar travel agency.
The process of approval by the relevant authorities could take from 7 to 10 working days. When the approval is received the Myanmar tour agency will inform the client and also inform the relevant airline. Without this information the airline will refuse to board the passenger. Please note also that the visa fee of USD 20 per person will be collected by the Myanmar Immigration authorities on arrival at Yangon International Airport. Also do not forget to bring some extra photos with you. This new Visa-On-Arrival procedures will take effect from October 1, 2005 until further notice.
AND PLEASE REMEMBER THAT PEACEHOUSE TRAVEL IS ALWAYS AT YOUR SERVICE. ALWAYS READY TO ASSIST YOU.
